Love Island has returned to our screens for the summer, and viewers have unanswered questions about this season’s professional athlete, Conor Phillips – here are all the details on the Irish rugby boy.

Conor Phillips was the newest addition to the Series 12 rendition of hit reality show Love Island, which premiered on the 9th June, after ex-contestant Kyle Ashman was pulled for from the first episode cast.
The show’s debut was a hit, with viewers seeming to enjoy the highly-anticipated return.

The casting of the show seems to be back to the ‘golden age’ of everyday people who seem to come from obscurity.
From a landscape gardener to a payroll specialist, the cast, including rugby player Conor, seemed to be veering away from the show’s reputation of only selecting models and influencers.
Conor was one of the contestants that raised fans' eyebrows when he revealed he plays rugby professionally! So, who is Conor and who does he play for?
Who is Love Island’s Conor Phillips?
Conor is a 25-year-old rugby player from Limerick, Ireland.
With a thick Irish accent, coming from the west of Ireland, we shall see if he has the charm to match.
He is of mixed heritage, but his ethnicity is unknown.
From his social media it is clear that he is a big music fan and festival-goer most recently attending the Irish ‘Forbidden Fruit Festival’.
It is clear though that rugby has underpinned his whole life and is a real love and passion of his.
Now that he is set for a summer of love, he has said he is looking for “someone who is really sure of themselves, ambitious, a bit of a go-getter and good craic. I like dark eyes and I don’t mind a dominant woman.”
What Rugby team does Conor from Love Island 2025 play for?
Rugby is something that the Islander has been doing for a very long time and he has a pretty reputable career as a professional rugby player.
He has played for the Irish national team on several occasions, from the under 18-s squad to now.
Most recently he represented the Irish nation at the World Rugby’s seven’s tournament, which saw the sports star jetting off to the likes of Singapore and Los Angeles.
Outside of the national team he plays for amateur-league team, Young Munster, representing his hometown Limerick through and through.
So, it’s clear that this rugby star has talents on the pitch, but we shall see over the coming weeks of incoming Love Island content, if he has the luck of the Irish with the ladies!
